This document contains the following – updated 28.03.04 Details of the Code of Conduct and Ethics to which all club members, managers and coaches are required to conform with whilst they are participating in or associated with any activities or programmes of “Catterick Cobras Water Polo Club”, herein referred to as CCWP. Statements which indicate the breadth and form of commitment: CCWP with regard to consultation, discussion and dissemination of information. The club members, officers and coaches selected to take part in the activities of CCWP. An outline of CCWP. Sanctions. An acceptance /rejection slip, which you are asked to fill in, is attached to this document. This is to confirm that you have read this document or have had its contents explained to you and that you fully understand them. Code of Conduct and Ethics Personal Appearance: This shall be as directed by the club coach or club officials and dependant on the particular circumstances. The club coach or club officials shall instruct the players as to the wearing of team kit, when assembling, travelling at functions or as otherwise required. Attendance Members must attend all sessions, meetings or other functions as directed by CCWP. It is essential that club members and officials are punctual at all times. Players should be ready on poolside 5 minutes before the start of the session. Players should wear costumes suitable for playing water polo i.e., of one-piece design, no bikinis or swim shorts. Players should not enter the water without a coach being in attendance. Players should listen and pay attention to instructions given by coaches. All club members are expected to report anything they may consider to be a health and safety issue, to the coach or pool staff or other responsible adult. Personal Conduct and Behaviour Any behaviour or personal conduct that is not of a high standard or does not project a favourable image of the sport shall be deemed as totally unacceptable. The coach will have the power to expel any player from a session for inappropriate behaviour. Language in all situations whilst engaged in the activities of CCWP must be appropriate and socially acceptable. Personal behaviour in the changing area and on the pool side must be respectful of others and the property of others using the pool. Alcohol and smoking are banned whilst engaging in any CCWP activity. The use of mobile phones inside the pool building is prohibited. Drugs: The use of performance Enhancing Drugs or any illegal Drugs and Substances is strictly forbidden. Use of these substances will result in suspension from the activities of CCWP for club members. Any medication been currently taken must be reported to a club coach or official. Media: It must be recognised that it is in the best interest of the sport that relationships with the Media must be good. Coaches and club officials should approve all interactions with the Media and be present at interviews with players if appropriate. Club coaches and officials should try an establish a good working relationship with the Media. In all matters club members coaches and officials must respect all others, regardless of gender, ethnic origin, religion and social class. Statement of Commitment CCWP agrees to arrange consultation on matters of selection and programme planning for training and competitions well in advance. CCWP agrees to inform club members, team managers Coaches, and parents of all relevant competitions, together with the criteria for selection and any relevant procedures. It is anticipated that there may be the requirement for discussion with all these groups on any items relevant to the development of the sport. CCWP recognises its responsibility to children and states that a suitable adult must accompany teams at all stages of competition. CCWP requires the following commitment from club members coaches and officials Participation in relevant championships Participation in training and team and club meetings Notification of medical conditions and fitness. Willingness to adopt, develop and sustain a “positive attitude” in training, competitions and social situations. Willingness to co-operate with other club members, coaches and officials and to achieve CCWP objectives. Notification to CCWP of the factors that may necessitate the club member being unable to accept selection of participation in a particular event. 3.CCPW CCWP is affiliated directly to Northumberland and Durham Amateur Swimming Association, which in turn is affiliated to the Amateur Swimming Association, which is the governing body for the sport. The Structure of CCWP can be described briefly as follows: CCWP by virtue of its constitution has the objective of the advancement of water polo; CCWP will have the following powers: To promote and organise contests to conduct tests and make awards. The promote the provision of proper facilities for water polo. To do all such other lawful things as are necessary for the attainment of the above object. It is realised that the activities of CCWP should not run in isolation, but in association with that of the ASA. This must lead to a further development and improvement in the standard of water polo not only to CCWP but also to the ASA. 4.Sanctions Any breach of the code of Conduct, Ethics and Commitment shall be delt with in the first instance by the coach or officer in charge. He/she shall report it to the Hon. Secretary of CCWP or the appointed representative. The Hon Secretary of CCWP, together with two other officers of CCWP shall receive the report of the breach of the code of conduct and report it to the committee for their decision. The committee shall deal with breaches of the Code of Conduct, Ethics and Commitment under the club constitution at the first possible opportunity. Notes for parents – Players should not be left without a coach or other responsible adult being in attendance. Parents should not interfere or interrupt a coach during a session (except in an emergency). If the parent has any comments or concerns with any aspect of the operation of the club they should speak to a coach or club official at the end of a session. No responsibility is accepted by the club for a member who leaves during or at the end of their session nor any member expelled during a session, unless they remain on poolside until collected by a suitable adult. No responsibility is accepted by the club for a member outside the pool building. Parents are requested to read the ASA codes on Ethics & Child Protection.
